The Lambani is an embroidery amalgam of mirror work, cross-stitch, and quilting stitches with borders of “Kangura” Colorful patchwork applique, done on loosely woven handloom base fabric. Lambanis or banjaras, a semi-nomadic people based mainly in southern and central India, practice the craft. Women of this community mostly perform this art. The majority of Banjara women work from the convenience of their homes. They put their spare time to good use by creating these lovely Banjara goods. They learn this craft from their mothers at a young age and have practiced it and kept it alive from generation to generation.
